Genoa President Alberto Zangrillo feels Albert Gudmundsson should be allowed to “dream” amid transfer links to Inter Milan.

Zangrillo spoke to Radio Sportiva, via FCInterNews, after his team officially clinched Serie A safety with a win over Cagliari.

Genoa will be in Serie A for at least one more season.

The Grifone made mathematically certain that they cannot suffer relegation straight back down to the second division with their win over Cagliari yesterday evening.

That is a testament to the fact that Genoa have looked very comfortable in Serie A in their first season back.

And it is also a reflection of the big contribution that Gudmundsson has made.

The Icelandic international has scored fourteen goals and made three assists this campaign. He is Genoa’s top scorer.

And that also means that there is a sense that the Ligurians may not be able to hold onto Gudmundsson for much longer.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus both reportedly consider the 26-year-old former AZ Alkmaar forward to be a target.

But the strongest links in recent weeks have been with Inter.

Genoa President On Albert Gudmundsson Links To Inter: “Let Him Dream”

Genoa President Zangrillo admitted that Gudmundsson “Is a young guy who’s serious, and wants to have ambitions that we aren’t able to guarantee at the moment.”

“There’s no denying that.”

The Genoa President made clear that Gudmundsson “Has suitors both in Italy and abroad.”

“And it’s only right for both parties to make evaluations.”

Then as far as Inter’s interest in Gudmundsson in particular, Zangrillo said “Let’s let the player dream. We leave the possibility open of a departure for the right offer.”

“We’ve learned to love our players,” he continued.

“We can have a good transfer window, and then thin that in a few years Albert can say: ‘If it weren’t for Genoa, I wouldn’t be here.'”
