No Suspension for Jamal Murray After Heat Pack Throw; Rudy Gobert Wins DPOY
Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves will play Friday night at Target Center vs the Denver Nuggets for game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals already up 2-0. As long as everything goes as planned, both Rudy Gobert and Jamal Murray will be in each team’s lineup.

Gobert, who was named Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday afternoon, will be back in the Wolves lineup, after missing game 2 for the birth of his child. And Jamal Murray, who threw multiple temper tantrums Monday night, will not be suspended for intentionally throwing a heat pack onto the floor while the game was still going.

Jamal Murray receives fine, no suspension

Instead, according to Shams Charania (The Athletic, Stadium), Jamal Murray will be fined 100,000, which ironically, is the same amount that Rudy was fined for flashing the money sign at referees earlier in the year. Murray did that too… along with yelling at refs and throwing both a towel and heat pack onto the floor.

Jamal Murray is averaging 12.5 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game. He’s shooting just 28% from the field and 25% from 3-point range. In the Nuggets first round matchup vs the Lakers, Murray averaged 23.6 points, 7.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game.

In the five games that Rudy Gobert has played in this postseason, he is averaging 13.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.2 steals per game. The Wolves’ defense looked really good without Rudy in game 2 but we all know who is the most important person on that side of the ball.
