© David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Reds split their two games on Wednesday. They beat the White Sox 3-1 and lost to the Rangers 8-1.

Lyon Richardson got the start against the White Sox.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand hit a double in the first inning. He has been a brilliant player for the Reds this spring!

The White Sox also got it going in the first inning with a Mike Moustakas double

Richardson gained his first strikeout of the game in the bottom of the second inning.

Elly De La Cruz was the opening run of the game after a walk and a stolen base. He advanced to third after a throwing error. Encarnacion-Strand drove him in on a groundout to make 1-0 Reds in the top of the fourth inning.

The White Sox tied it, but Cincinnati had time to answer. Encarnacion-Strand hit a home run to give the Reds a 2-1 lead. Luke Maile also hit a home run to extend the lead to 3-1 Reds in the seventh.

There were no more scores in this game which ended with a win for the Reds.

Reds' Loss to Rangers:

This game was headlined by the first spring start from Rhett Lowder which did not go the way he wanted.

The first hit of the game came from Spencer Steer in the bottom of the first. Jonathan India stole home to give the Reds an early 1-0 lead.

Former Reds player Jose Barrero was hit by Lowder after he already gave up back-to-back-to-back singles, which gave the Rangers their first run. Marcus Semien followed that up with a grand slam for the Rangers and the Reds never recovered. Langford also hit a home run after Lowder was taken out of the game to give the Rangers a 6-1 lead in the second inning.

Semien reached on a fielding error and Josh Smith hit a double to drive in another run to make it 7-1 in the fourth.

Langford had an RBI single in the sixth to extend the lead to 8-1. The Reds never threatened, before ultimately losing 8-1.
