Nick Saban ‘encouraged’ by Alabama football’s first A-Day under Kalen DeBoer
Gary Cosby Jr.-Tuscaloosa News / USA TODAY NETWORK

Nick Saban shared his thoughts on what he saw from Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football on A-Day earlier this week.

Sabn was in attendance for A-Day last month as he had an opportunity to talk with current Alabama players and fans during his time in Tuscaloosa. He opened up about his thoughts on how Alabama looked in the scrimmage during an appearance at the Irondale Prayer Breakfast.

“I was encouraged,” Saban said. “I thought the team looked well-coached. They played hard. They played with a lot of discipline. I know they’ve got a lot of young players at some positions, so their development’s going to be critical to success. I think they kept pretty good continuity through this last portal, and hopefully, they’ll add some pieces that will help them.”

DeBoer and his staff are currently shopping in the transfer portal for multiple defensive players to strengthen their team. A trio of transfers will visit this weekend.
