Giving Gifts

Hey Yardbarkers, Meant to write this Tuesday, but got sidetracked. We had a very tough loss last week against the Colts. It was another one of those games where if we make one or two more plays we win. It's been that kind of season for us. As frustrating as the losses are you have to bounce back and get ready for the next game. On Monday and Tuesday I was part of two events that definitely allow you to step away from the frustrating losses. On Monday my teammate Eric Steinbach hosted about 30 kids at the Dick's Sporting Goods and gave each of them $170 to spend in the store. These are kids who are less fortunate and otherwise wouldn't have gifts for Christmas. My wife and I went to help the kids shop. Buying a pair of shoes was mandatory, but the kids could get anything else they wanted. It was a gift for us to be able to participate and see them enjoying themselves. The next day I joined my teammates Shaun Rogers, Sean Jones, Andra Davis and Daven Holley at the Browns Toy Extravaganza. We bought gifts for 300 kids. We were giving away computers, play stations, basketball hoops, CD players, flat screens, gift certificates to Best Buy, you name it we had it. The kids each had wristbands with numbers on them and we drew the numbers and called them down. It was great to see all the smiles and hear the laughter. And it's great way to kickoff the Christmas season.

  Always nice to hear about athletes giving back to the community. It's even better to hear how much the players actually enjoy doing these kind of special events. You guys played the Colts tough. I was surprised how well you guys did and you are right, one or two little mistake erased and you win. Now go out this week and stop Chris Johnson! Good Luck DQ!

    PUDGE 50, thanks but i don't want to take all the credit,their are lots of guys around the NFL who donate and give back to their own communities as well as their clubs. chris johnson was a load along with lendale white but once again we failed to make enough plays on both sides of the ball to win the game.

  It is great to see you giving back to the community. It is also great to see a player who has a killer instinct on the field be able to flip the switch and help the less fortunate off the field. Very impressive.

    ROUSEY, when you have a platform like the NFL kids across the globe look up to you as role models. i come from a family who worked check to check so its important for me to be active in the community. by the way i do use hand lotion, i meant that i rather for my hands to be a little on the rough side during season thats all. in my mind rough hands makes more tackles.

  It's awesome that you and your teammates give back to the community D'Qwell. We don't usually hear about the good things that athletes do but it's very nice of you to help the less fortunate. You have been playing great this year and hopefully the Browns finish off the year strong and you make your first trip to the Pro Bowl because not many people have played better then you have this year.
